    Leather Kilt Strap Pattern
Can someone who has a set of leather kilt straps take a few measurements for me.

I'm wondering what the typical overall length is of both sides (the side with and the side without buckle).

Whoever I get my next kilt from I want to make my own straps and use these satin silver finish buckles I've got. They are for a 1.75" strap so a bit wider than normal but the buckles are thick beefy buckles which I think will kook great.

Typical hole spacing would be helpfull as well and how much leather is needed to stitch it to a kilt.

    Thanks

Length is 6" overall (1" stitched in - you can get away with 3/4") for a strap 1 1/4" (both sides)(but I think you could vary them so that the apron sits in the right place for you). For a strap 1 3/4", I'd add 1/2". Holes (5) are usually 'strap width less 1/4"' (centre of hole to centre of hole), but an interval of 1 1/2" seems rather a lot - what about 1"?

Great looking buckles. Good luck with the project. I think the above post sounds about right. I'll try and get the measuring tape out tonight when I get home.
