Modified Sporran
I received a plain brown sporran on Saturday in the mail because I wanted to have the brown to go with my SWK Saffron HW kilt. (I posted a thread under the title SWK Saffron on 4 June in the Show Us Your Kilts forum).
Thanks for the replies and comments.
Well I like the sporran, but it is rather plain. I had a cap badge which I got on ebay some time ago sitting on my desk. The badge is supposed to be from the Scottish Engineer Regiment. Don't know for sure, probably a reproduction of some earlier badge.
I didn't have a cap to wear it with. I have a glengarry, but I wear a Clan Hay badge on that. Also a balmoral, but I have a Royal Engineer badge for that.
Tonight I attached the Scottish Engineer badge to the front of the flap of the brown sporran. I took a couple of pictures that are under the Kilt2 album at this site: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/grafvilseck/my_photos
There is also a photo of before, without the badge.
I think this dresses up the sporran nicely.
(As I said in my other thread, pretend the kilt belt is brown, all I have right now is black)
What do you think? Seems like an easy way to add a personal touch. (I'm an engineer by profession, so I'm looking for a way to recycle my old military uniform Corps of Engineer castle buttons and crests)

That's what makes the cilt and accessories so cool, it the ability to add a personal touch to make it our own.
Your sporran looks way better with the badge than without. (B)

That loks very nice. It dresses up the sporran nicely. I also like the sporran belt showing in the third picture. Is that some kind of braided belt?

Braided Belt
Yes, the sporran belt is flat braided leather.
I found them in brown and black at our PX, for $10 each.
There is a standard tang on the buckle, but no holes in the belt. You just push the tang through the braid where you wish. It also has some give (stretch) so it self-adjusts when you sit or stand.
It's about 1 inch wide compared to my chain belts, but I like them because of less potential damage to the kilt fabric, and the comfort.
Glad you like it.

A_Hay,
That looks awesome. It's hard to believe the difference that such a small addition can make. I Also like the braided belt. Would love to see some pics of the whole ensemble with the kilt as well.
