Kilted in Dallas, TX
Hello everyone,
I have known for several years about my Scottish history. But after meeting another fellow Scottsman (wearing a kilt), I felt it was time for me to show my heritage and wear the kilt also. I decided that I would purchase my first kilt. It was hard to believe how comfortable they were to wear. After finding this site and joining, I read alot of articles that other new members hard worries of wearing their kilt for the first time. So ofcourse I was having troubles on wearing it out in public. It was on Thanksgiving day that we had a party to go to. With not telling anyone that was at the party I was deciding on wearing my kilt I did it. I had not concerns really on the subject, but everyone thought it was the best thing! And having worn it found out that their family was also Scottish.
So to all of the other newbies, just wear it out like you are in pants. Because most people think that Kilts do Rock!!!

Kilted in Dallas
Its so good to hear about so many in the US are proud of their Scottish Heritage. You picked a good occassion to go kilted for the first time on Thanksgiving Day. Now that we are moving into the festive season, there will be plenty of opportunities to wear your kilt. You will find the more you wear your kilt, the more you will enjoy wearing it and also you will encourage others to consider wearing the kilt as an aternative dress on informal or formal occasions.
Who knows you may encourage others to rip up their pants and go kilted full time. if I was in a position to do so I would be wearing my kilt full time enjoying the freedom and respect it brings.
Good on you, Julian

I get your way about once a year. When there I hit the "Flying Saucer. :pint: "
