I had a family court appearance scheduled this morning. I'd been agonizing over whether or not to appear kilted.
My son's mother has issues about my kilt-wearing and I finally decided that if I didn't wear a kilt to court I'd be proving to her that there is something wrong about it.
I posted a pic of what I wore to court today. The kilt was totally a non-issue with the court and the ruling was in my favor.
The only problem I had was getting through security. The snaps set off the metal detector. The Sherrif thought it was my belt buckle and I had to remove my belt (for those of you who might not know, there are belt buckles made with a knife hidden in them, so sometimes security wants to do a visual check of the belt and buckle). Of course, it was an ordinary belt buckle so they passed me through. I almost lost the kilt in the process though.
Fortunately, my wife was there to help me hold the kilt up through the process of removing the belt and getting it back on again, otherwise I would have answered the age-old question of what's worn under the kilt.![]()
I don't think that would have gone over too well with the court.![]()
Overall, it was a great day for me. I felt comfortable and confident and looked better-dressed than most of the guys there.![]()
Thanks guys. It's easier to take risks when you know you have friends supporting you.
