Designing ur own tartan??... sounds good!
Hey ya all there, surfing the net I found a page that contains an "interactive weaver" to make ur own designs for tartans.
As far as I'm absolutely not scottish at all, nor related with surnames, etc,... (those who know me know all the rest) but I'm linked with this culture maybe more than many scots I found on the chat and other pages (WAYN is a good place for meeting people), I found it simply brilliant.
At this site you can explore your imagination just expressing in colours what your soul indicates to you what's the best you would show of your land, life, etc,... u can even register them into the Scottish Tartans Authority Register, or just order a unique tartan with your truly "OWN COLOURS"... well,... if you can afford that, and it's not my case
I've made four or five designs that I would like to show, but I still don't know how to hang my images here (some help would be really welcome!)
Just for your info, the site is:
http://houseoftartan.co.uk/interacti...ver/index.html
I hope this is useful for you all. We could even make a thread to show our own creations here!
...as I said, sounds good to me!

There is buttons for inserting image over the text field when writing a new post. just click it and insert URL to picture.
I have used it too to design tartan for Finnish kilt association. We will get it registered weaved and made to kilts when we really get the association up and running. It's pretty expensive though, you can read the prices from house of tartan. And weaving and kilt making costs a lot more... but if you really want a kilt in your own tartan I think the money really isn't the matter. And when we get the tartan registered, we would be proud if somebody else wants to wear our tartan ;)

A Litle Silly, Maybe, But....
Maybe my question is a litle silly, but,... How can I make STEP BY STEP to introduce an URL to make you see my designs?, I mean,... I have to create a web page to hang my images there and then introduce the address or the link here?
As you can see, I'm an absolute alien in these matters!
Thanks in advance 4 ur help!
¡Salud!

When your design is ready and you see on your browser. Right click it, then choose "copy image location". May wary from browser to browser but firefox has "copy image location". Use that as the URL on your design on the board.

Tono, you can also upload your image to an image hosting site such as Photobucket, http://www.photobucket.com/ . Once your image is uploaded, Photobucket conveniently gives you the URL, TAG, & IMG for your image. This board uses the URL for the image. It's just copy & paste after that.
Best to you on it.

Thanks again!
Again, thanks to all! I'll try some of this ways!
Meanwhile, I can say that I have "created" five or six tartans for my own "Valencia" series. As you can imagine they're called ... dress, hunting, hunting 2, dress modern,..."ancient" , I hope to make u all suffer just a litle bit with my brainstormed designs ... the ancient of course was the first one, and it's really horrible!, but well, it's so simple that "ancient" seemed to be a good name for it. No one of them will be registered, at least if I don't get the Xmas. lottery first price here, but if I do, be sure that I'll have a couple or two of new kilts ordered!
seeya all!

Tono, I'd love to see some of your creations, but I'm also interested in what tartan you have as your avatar - I really like it.

First design: "Valencia Ancient"
Here you got my first one,...
[IMG] [/IMG]
The colours are Green and brown for our flora and love to our rich soils , black and white for the diversity of our origins as people, and sky blue, red and yellow for our flag ( four red stripes over yellow field in horizontal and a vertical big blue stripe with a crown at side).
... and it's difficult to see!

The second step,... a dress model
But you'll see that it's not at all a dress!!
[IMG] [/IMG]
The colours are always more or less the same, but changing the proportions,... still too dark to be a dress!

Well, then let's make a dress with a litle more white and,...

... no green or brown, as we are also closely related to sea, and our skyes are really blue almost all over the year!
