    Just Do It!

Last night, my home town hosted "Molley's Revenge" as part of it's Summer Concert in the Park series. What a perfect time to head out in my casual kilt attire (SW light weight Gordon, black boots, black day sporran, casual black belt and UnderArmor T-shirt). I know, I should have taken a picture to post...but I didn't. Anyway, that's not the point.

Over 1,000 people listening to celtic music and I was the only one in a kilt...not even the band members were wearing kilts. Lets just say, I stuck out like a sore thumb. I got a lot of looks, a lot of thumbs up and compliments. Went grocery shopping after the concert and no one said anything about the kilt. They asked about my tatoos...but totally ignored the kilt (strange?).

My point is, just do it. Put on your kilt and go. I wear my kilts (4 and counting) a lot and I've never regretted it, never been in a "bad situatiuon" or had a comment thrown my way that I couldn't handle.

So, my question for you is... what are you waiting for? Just do it!!

    -Tim

I totally agree, Tim. Just do it. That's how you build confidence to the point that wearing a kilt publicly is as natural as wearing a pair of pants.

Hugh, I think Darrell and I got the same kilt from Scottishkilts.net . The price is certainly right and I got good service to boot. It's not an 8 yard tank but for abt $125 US at the current exchange rate I'm happy with mine.

I thought I would get quite a reaction from people when I went out in my kilt but I have been several places and have gotten no reaction at all.

The first couple of places I went I was walking really fast so I was a moving target....but as the weekend progressed and my feet and knees started hurting me, I started to slow down.

I was surprised when I was standing in the shopping mall looking at my map that no one said anything. I was surprised that when I was walking around the grocery store no one said anything to me.

I think the "punks" have paved the way for us. Society is more accepting now...maybe....
