Kilted At Work
GOOD DAY, Well I did it, wore kilt to work for the first time. First a little background, I work in a small factory, we build dish washing machines for commercial use. I assemble the motor/pump for the machines for two of the lines. It is not a hard or dirty job, in fact I put most of my energy into staying on my feet all day. Last Wed. I had to take my elderly mother to the doc's for a simple procedure, ( she's fine). Well she couldn't drive home because she was all dope up. Well after getting her home and in bed napping I thought, hey I'll go into work and finish the shift. I got there at about 1:00. shift ends at 3:30. Oh yes I didn't bother to change, so there I was in the plant in my SWK Black Stewart. My you most of the people ther knew that I prefere the kilt to pants, but I don't believe that they really believed me when told them.
There was a few double takes and the two managers couldn't believe thier eyes, but they said it was cool and no problem. Some of the ladies made the "oh sexy" comments all in good fun. One guy that says that he is Irish
told me that I must have a set of big brass ones, well sure I do why do you think I have the kilt for. Only one negative comment, one gal there said that it was to short, what does she know. All in all it was now big thing.
THANK Wes
The more poeple that I meet the more that I like my dog.

Well done Wes, I remember how hard I found it to go public in a kilt, you worry about what people might think or say.
You've made a great start and you're educating others about proper mens attire.
Thanks for sharing your story.

That is SO great Wes!
Way to go. You're home free. If manager's accepted the kilt unexpectedly you'll be fine from now on.
Methinks you'll be buying a few UK Workman's if you haven't already.
You're gonna love the freedom and comfort.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

Excellent start - you never realise how well a kilt will be received at the workplace until you first turn up in one.

Congrats! The first time at work is always a little nerve-racking, glad to hear you had a good experience.
