Utilikilt ship time...
I am thinking about ordering a Utililkilt. Any idea of shipping time from order to door? Just curious.... Thanks in advance!

I recently ordered one and mine came quickly once it was sent.
However, the one I had originally ordered, shown as in stock on their website, was out of stock. Then, I never got their email about it being out of stock. Since it was around a holiday, I waited to call them for a week or so. They got the matter straightened out immediately and politely, and I had a different color kilt, which I prefered, in 4 days.
If you need quick delivery I would suggest talking to them on the telephone. I don't know if my experience was unique, but if I were in a rush it would have been incovenient.
BTW, other than the computer issues, I have nothing but great things to say about them... even did a nice review of my utilikilt on my blog.

I recently ordered a Black Original from teh website.. turned out that it was not in stock.. they should have some next week and I'm going to see if they can upgrade my shipping...
but in answer to the original question. normal shipping from UK is UPS ground..it can take 5-7 BUSINESS days to get it.. best bet is to call and make sure the kilt you want is in stick and avoid the let down of not getting a kilt when ya expected...

I got mine in a week the service is great I would call and check with them to make sure your size is in stock and give them hip mesurements, I just ordered waist size and the hips where to small so you may have to order one size up.

I waited 90 days for my first Utilikilt back in 2004. They've grown since. But any cut and sew factory is gonna have different availability times for different styles and even sizes.
Best deal is as suggested, call and talk to them direct. They'll give you their best guess. It is worth the wait if you gotta. I mean, sooner or later you're gonna order it anyway.
That camo original UK I waited 90 days for is now well worn. And of course you can get immediate shipment off the scratch and dent rack.

Good words here for ya AKG. And a warm welcome to XMTS
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Thanks for all the input folks!
I currently have a Tan Amerikilt, and am going to add an Original Utilikilt and a Freedom Kilt to the mix. I think I will be calling both folks and ordering over the phone, seems much more personal.

They went into production overtime when they moved to the new facility last winter. For a while there was a wait for most of the popular styles/size/colors. I had to wait about six weeks for an olive original size 35.
The upside is they called me when it was done and I rode my bike downtown to pick it up (ok, it's 25 miles one way, but definitely in the realm of things I consider doable).
Call first. See if they have what you want or something close. If they do, the turn-around is pretty short. Otherwise, it's a matter of when they will be making one.

My U.K. took two weeks because it was universal length and had to be hemmed. The phone people have always been great. I like my U.K. and wear it to work at least once a week.
Having said all that, just got my F.K. . Had I done that first U.K. would have never come up on my radar. For less than a survival would cost in my size, got a poly/cotton cargo with 7 pockets and almost 10 yards of material to my door.
The only feature not offered is a 'modesty closure' and that is easy enough to add. If you are not a "normal" size you are much better off with custom made.
My F.K. fits great, the U.K. is painted on around the butt. To get a U.K. that fits my seat correctly, the waist would be four inches too big. That is way beyond darting the band. The whole thing would have to be taken apart and the fell to waist taper redone after shortening the band.
So for me it is better value to get one custom made.
U.K. does make some sharp looking casual kit, and they do put a lot of folk in kilts. They are faster than custom made, they just aren't custom made.
Steve was great to talk to when I ordered my F.K.. He seemed a bit disappointed that I did not want to use the website to order. Just like a kilt maker might not want to wear a Stillwater standard with a prince chuck, some web engineers don't want to order from a site that does anything they don't much approve of. Steve seemed to get where I was coming from and the trasnsaction was flawless.
Even with a very chaotic summer, my kilt was done on time.
Now at U.K. they have bent over backwards trying to find me a proper fit, measuring their kilts off the rack, adding my statistics to the production database, and showing great customer service and responsiveness at every turn.
If you are getting one of each, don't see how you can lose .
Happy Kilting -- Doug
