Philmont Kilted
I'm back home now from my trek and holy cow was it amazing. words cannot describe how truly awe inspiring it was. Seeing the views from mountain tops, the wildlife ( I actually saw a bear!!!), and the countryside was really a religious experience for me. When I first heard the philmont hymn, I noticed it referred to things as God's Country, and now I believe that is accurate. I'll have a link up shortly to a photo album.
I did end up wearing the kilt on the trail and It was extremely comfortable to wear. I met people wearing it I would not have otherwise, and I even referred a couple of people here!
I was sure to have sturdy boots, and they served me well. We never had any problems with bears, mini or otherwise.
To anyone that has the opportunity, GO TO PHILMONT!!! It is so entirely worth it.

Happy, happy, happy!
Good on ya for risking and having fun. Sounds like you found enough oxygen and the bear sighting was at a safe distance.

So I take it that you liked northern New Mexico? It is my favorite part of the US....
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
