My wife attended a tranportation conference today at the Westin Galleria hotel in Houston. Since I had the day off I drove over in time for the post meeting reception (free food and drinks!) The event was hosted by Harris County Judge Ed Emmett. Judge Emmett got pretty well known here for going on TV right before hurricane Ike hit and telling folks that should have evac'ed they should "Hunker Down" till it passed.

Anyway, the Judge went to the podium to welcome everyone, and he sees me and says; " I want to welcome everybody, and ask that man how come you are wearing a kilt?" to which I replied; "Judge, I think public nudity is still illegal in Houston". That got a laugh. Anyway, after his remarks we talked for several minutes, mostly about kilts. It turns out he even though he is mostly Irish like me, has a kilt he got in Scotland in the family tartan of some folks his family stayed with over there. He said he seldom wears it because it's quite hot and heavy for Texas, etc.. I actually ended up giving him one of my 'Kilt Info' sheets
