Washing Hose with Shampoo
It's been suggested on the forum to wash wool hose with shampoo, so this morning, when I washed my hair, I also washed my Lewis hose.
Crazy but convenient.
It worked fine, and the shampoo was easy to rinse out of the hose. It was a shampoo with conditioner already in it. I rolled them up with a bit of squeeze at each turn to get some of the water out, then laid them across a clothes drying rack.
There almost dry now, and seem to be fine. Just thought I would report on it in case anyone else decides to use shampoo.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Actually after washing with a mild detergent, a mild conditioner should be helpful in replacing some of the natural lanolin that comes in the wool (as long as it is not too processed) that helps keep the wool fibers supple and soft, and less itchy.

I debated using the shower to wash my wool kilt. Think I could get away with it? (Not the highest quality wool kilt, mind you.)

Perhaps I'll just start washing my hair with woolite!

I'm definately not an expert in this, but shampoo is designed to remove oil from hair. One of the advantages of real wool is the oil (lanolin) is in it naturally. It seems odd that you would use something to take the oil out, only to replace it with conditioner that has "who know what in it". I would think woolite would be the preferred product.

Make sure to use conditioner so it doesn't get frizzy!

Just something that had been suggested. In fact, suggested by Matt.
I am using a shampoo that is made from components that are safe to go in the gray water system and out on the plants: No de-greasers etc and a low PH balance.
