Coping with the joneses? Shrinking
I've been shrinking since last April and have lost 30lbs, not bad since I've bulked up quite a bit as well. I don't feel that I can order a new kilt till I take off the remaining 25lbs, especially since it's the spare tire that's the last to go on me. Of course, this means that my old kilts don't fit. I'd been doing ok coping with everything for the last few months but it's really starting to get to me.
Luckily I can almost fit into my tank that I bought for my wedding (Farquharson, made 7 years ago.) But my casual kilts are starting to fall off.
Does anyone have any advice about shrinking? How to cope with being mostly panted?

Buy smaller kilts, and a stick to fend off the attacking lasses!

I threw my $450 Tank in the dryer once.... (you know the cartoons where they stick a sweater in the dryer and it gets tiny). I was just so frustrated that it didn't fit. All the drier did was make it toasty and take the crisp out of the pleats.

PATIENCE! The end result will be the most important part of the shrinking.
Your long term health too. The Kilts can be replaced. Sell the others.

Same thing happened to me, recently. I won't lie... there's nothing that you can really do, save to grin and bare it. Sorry, brother. I really do feel your pain, though, believe me.

Just hang in there, man. It's really, really worth the hard work (in which I largely include the work of not going into pants insanity)!

Patience is the hard part. I just didn't realize the scale of the journey when I started. I'm very glad with the results, it's just hard to dismiss the notion of a quick fix, though I'm keeping with it. It's encouraged me to try more things, like training for a 50 mile bike fundraiser this summer.
George, ouch. I don't think I'd try that with mine, I have too much personal and family history wrapped up in it. It's probably the only thing I own that I'd truly dispair if it got lost in a fire.
As far as lasses go, I've got a bonny Lebanese lass who encourages (mostly) the kilting. Any others will have to look but not touch.

Keep the faith, just think of how you'll feel when you order a new kilt in your new measurements . Talk about an ego boost!
