Tank and sneakers?
There is probably a discussion already been posted about this- I just couldn't find one. But anyway, is it ok to wear sneakers with a tank? I was told by the maker you can wear it with any shoes, sneakers, or boots you want. I tried it on with sneakers and I couldn't get past the weirdness of it. I felt like I needed something a little more...heavy under my kilt...if that makes any sense? Anyway, I'm interested to know what the experienced had to say about it...

I agree. When I wear a kilt, it's either nice dress shoes or boots. Others wear sandals, but I don't like them.

I think there are multiple levels of dress. If I'm wearing a tank it's most likely a formal occasion and so would wear appropriate footwear. On the other hand, if I'm wearing a kilt that is less formal I might wear sandals. It should be a personal choice.

I don't wear sneakers with my tank, but that's just me.

Full disclosure: I don't have a tank, but I don't think I need one to answer this.
If you're going to wear it in a casual setting, with casual attire, then sneakers or sandals would fit. That's why they call it casual, because you can relax and not worry about it. Obviously if you need to be a bit dressy, then sneakers would be out of place. The kilt can be as casual or formal as necessary, so it need not be the deciding factor.
Now, if you just don't like the feeling, and you'd be more comfortable in boots or dress shoes, then wear those. I know I prefer to wear my big heavy work boots when wearing my Alpha (not a tank, but when fully loaded it is quite beefy) because they just feel better (tough and rugged to match the kilt) than my athletic shoes. But sandals are more comfortable than either of them, so I usually wear those.
So, in short, whatever you're comfortable with is OK.

Comfort is a top priority. (but have an eye open for the look, too)

Í'm currently wearing all stars under my tank in happy colours. my kilt is a gordon modern and Im wearing green kilthose which are hanging on my shoes. looks fine. I ll make a picture for you once I got the time as I have to go school in a bit. good luck with you experimenting!
as for sandals; I've disliked them since I was born so don't ask me about it =/ if it ever gets warm here I ll just bring a bottle of water along and pour it on my all stars I suppose. At least try not to wear sandals with socks in them - or worse; white socks (not hose)

For casual I generally wear black DC's (skate shoes) with my kilts. If I'm dressing up a bit then it's dress shoes (no brogues as of yet). And lastly, if I'm camping then it's sandals all the way!
As others have said, comfort is key, with an eye towards fashion.

For the most part I can't get past the sneakers either. I guess if I was throwing the caber I would wear some athletic shoes. Personally I'm a big fan of bare legs and flip flops. If I'm casual, thats what I'll be sporting.
