This is very impressive as Adnam's is not known for 'travelling' well. I wouldn't mind trying the Sheperd Neame and of course the Marston's. And one can only dream about the Thwaites. There was a time when they used to call Abbot Ale 'Looney Juice', because that's how you got after you drunk it.
I was recently introduced to Adnams Broadside on draught while visiting a mate in Southwold Suffolk (where the brewery is). Nicer than the bottled stuff we get up here, although that isn't bad either.
As another aside:
If you are ever in Manchester and get the chance to sample beer from these Chaps.
Please do so... If you enjoy a decent pint, this IS one to write home about. Unfortunately the draught bitter is only sold in 93 Pubs in the Manchester area which is probably not a bad thing. Look what globalisation did to Boddington's. Turned it from one of the best cask beers in Britain to tinned, fizzy pish in less than half a decade.
Apparently you can get some of Joey Holt's bottled range from Tesco. See you there maybe...
Awesome. I miss CAMRA ales. I wish there was an American equivalent. Luckily we have a few breweries here that are comparable, but I love those old British ales!
