what to do...
so the other day while visiting many thrift stores looking for things for my new apartment i came across what was labeled as a ladies kilt. and indeed it was tartan/plaid material with two brown leather straps on the left hip. the tartan seemed to me to be royal Stewart perhaps. the waist was fairly small, i'm a 32 mens waist and this was smaller than I. although if it would've fit me or my girlfriend (we are both about 5'4) it would've been a great floor length kilted skirt/dress; for a short, thin lass.
my problem with it is that it does appear that it was altered, possibly had the waist taken in, or it was an attempt at making a kilted skirt. i say this because there was no other straps or buckles to hold the inner apron in place. also it did not have many pleats and the front apron seemed rather small. on the plus side it did seem to be wool.
so what im wondering is should i go and rescue it? and possibly make it into a sash or plaid of some sort and reuse the fabric and the two straps? or would any one hear be interested in it themselves? Im not of the Stewarts so the tartan doesnt necessarily appeal to me.
thoughts?
