What tartan would suit this Jacket ?

    Hi all,

I'd like some advice. I love the look of the jacket below so much so it's crazy. At the moment I have a BW kilt and a Prince Charles Edward Stuart Modern kilt. I'm looking for a good reason to justify buying a USAKilt Semi Trad ;). LOL

What Tartans would go well with this jacket ? Would any of the two I already own work well ?

If you like it, Hiram, it will work with every tartan.

Personally, I don't like it. 'Stripes and checks', not sure that they go together. But in the end, it is what you are going to feel good in, not what I feel good in.

    Regards

    Chas

The brown looks a little too mauve for it to look good with a red tartan like your Prince Charles Edward Stewart (who knows in real life; you'll have to buy it to know for sure), but it would look great with your Black Watch.

I am sorry, but to my mind there is not a tartan in this universe, that will go with that jacket.

I'm a pin strip 3 piece suit kind of guy which is why I like the first coat, but now that I see it with a checkered pattern as you said Chas, you may be right.
SlackerDrummer can you past the BW with the second coat for me ?

Another thing this is for a friends wedding, it's formal enough as day wear goes I hope. I have a black PC and a black Argyle but wanted something out of the ordinary.

SlackerDrummer I fear you may have just started something, now I was just thinking of how a Cameron of Erracht Ancient would look against a loden crag Braemar jacket .........................

    Hehehe 'Stripes and checks'???

No accounting for tastes but I think they can look OK. I'd go out in that combo if I owned a pinstr....

    Oh wait a minute...

That jacket is an entirely different kettle of fish from the one in the OP's original post, IMHO. It doesn't scream or cause eye pain, at all.

I am inclined to agree with Jock. However, if YOU like it then it is fine. I am not inspired by the jacket.
