Tom Manuel
I just received an e-mail from Tom's Cafe saying that Tom Manuel passed away this morning. Has anyone else received the message?

Yes, I posted of his passing in the Off Topic. I never met him, but somehow I am still at a loss for words.

I had contact with Tom about 9 mts ago. I had been praying for him. He was a breaker of moulds and a lot of men's lves where changed by him. He was part of the influence on me when I was looking at the whole kilt idea. I know many did not like all his ideas but at least he spoke up and was counted. He did'nt sit on fence and he was a gentleman who treated people with respect.

Yes, I received the E-mail also, but I picked up the news earlier this afternoon whilst browsing "Tom's Café". I've known that gentle-man for around six years, although we met for the first time only a year ago, Whilst Dave W. and I were touring the USA. Dear Tom, although not well, gave up three days to escort us around Washington DC, and to host a wonderful, welcoming Restaurant Evening attended by many great people.
Tom, his "Café" and his regular patrons had such a profound effect on me when I first began kilt wearing on a daily basis, that I shall never, ever forget him and will be eternally grateful to him.
I have lost a true friend and I am devastated.
Ham.

Yes I got the email too, he was taken too young, it's very sad.
He is gone, but will not be forgotten.

It is truly a sad day for his family and friends, but his legend and memory will continue within us all.

I paid my last respects on Tom's Cafe and it might be a good idea to do that, even if because recent changes, you no longer feel like you "fit in" there.

I am truly sorry to hear this news. Tom was a pioneer and though I never knew him I know his reputation. I will go to Tom's one last time to pay my respects.

Yup, got the news in a phone call.
Tom was a HUGE help when USAKilts was getting started. He helped me to get things rolling in the marketing area, and recommended us to a number of engines and organizations. MUCH of the online success of USAKilts can be directly attributed to Tom.
