Reflecting on the Week
Greetings all my kilted friends,
Last Monday I decided to measure reactions either plus or minus on my kilt wearing for an entire week. What I noticed was not unusual for my kilted experience.
I spent Monday walking around to various destinations. A lot of waves, several people said "cool kilt". Five people I knew yelled "Hi Glen", but the best thing that happened was when a friend was walking with her two kids aged 5 and 2. When the 5 year old said something about Glen's kilt his little sister misunderstood and said "Glen's cool", I had no problem with that.
Tuesday and Wednesday nothing more than people driving down the street or riding their bikes yelling "Hi Glen".
Thursday as I was walking I noticed that I could get a pretty good beat going with the tassles hitting my sporran. More people yelled "Hi Glen", even some that I do not know. Went to a grand opening that evening and talked to several people, including an older lady who said that her Father was in WWI with the Ladies from Hell and asked if I had ever heard of them, we had a marvelous time talking.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday found me in Estes Park for the Long's Peak Festival. About 75,000 people and about 1/2 of them male and more than half of all males kilted. It was such a joy to be around so many other kilted men, just wish it would happen more often.
In the entire week I did not hear one negative remark (at least within earshot).
