The University of California at Riverside had their own tartan made up, and I got to see it for the first time this weekend.

Their band played in the Souther California Highland Games and they were all kilted of course. The primary color you notice on the apron is the blue, but the pleats are done to the stripe. When you view it from the back you mostly see the white/orange brown color, but everytime there is a little swish the most intense bits of blue peek out. It was really cool, and was a really neat treat to see as they all marched down the road.

It was the first time I'd seen either that tartan or that effect, but it was pretty cool.

Are there a lot of other tartans that have the same effect when pleated to the stripe?
