Smile Any other kilted NYCers about?

    Greetings to all!

I discovered the site back in April and have dropped by ever since. Despite my heritage, it took a buddy's wedding to get me into a kilt at last. Not a lack of wanting to -- just life getting in the way I guess.

But once in a kilt there was no going back. After the wedding I gave it a workout before returning it to Piper's Cove at the end of the week rental. Wore it to church (not many kilted Episcopalians-turned-Lutherans in the world it seems) and then to work in NYC. I work in the West Village so unless I dangled live pink poodles from nipple clips or something most folks could care less about a kilt. Office response was minimal but over good. Usual questions around here were: "Is there a parade today?", "Do you play the bagpipes?", "Going to something special today?"

I was truly bummed when I had to return the kilt. Tried on a 'walking kilt' while there but didn't jump to buy it -- it was a pricy wedding. Then I found the same one (Black Watch) on eBay for 1/4 the price -- got it. And a black denim one too. Through your posts and links I'll be hitting up Sport Kilt for a Douglas kilt soon.

Thanks for all the great info. So...anybody know of a kilt night in NYC any time soon?

    Cheers,

    Dave

Don't hit up Sport Kilt for a Douglas Cousin...

Hit up USA Kilts or something. It's a few dollars more, but a big difference.

Glad to see you came around.

Another Douglas on this board... Mwahahahahah!

    Erm, sorry. Carried away.

Seriously though, don't waste your time with the Sport Kilt.

I purchased a kilt from USA kilts in the Douglas tartan.

I am happy with it. And I am a stingy finicky picky bastard. So that's saying something.

Lots of kilt makers around here though. Most of them are fairly chatty. Give them time and you might see one on a rare break from their workbench to post here.

Yes there is no turning back once you are kilted! It only gets better.
