The Cameronians
The Scotsman is running a very interesting article today about the Cameronian Regiment, which disbanded in 1968 rather than be amalgamted. The story has a link to a Cameronian web site, which is well worth the perusal for anyone interested in Scottish military history:

And here's the story itself:

A fitting tribute to a proud regiment.

That just makes me mad. ...not the article, the fact that they had to disband or blend.

I read that article. Very informative. The Cameronians traditions would certainly put the wind up many of todays folks, but it's always sad to see long standing and honorable traditions disappear.

David,
I thought about you and your father when I read the article, but I didn't get a chance to PM you about it -- glad to see you found the thread!
Cheers,

I actually learn a lot hanging out on this forum. Thanks for sharing.
It's obvious that sometimes military & intelligence should not be used in the same conversation.

Actually, I think the problem is the disconnect between intelligence and the civilian bureaucrats who run the MOD (no wonder "civilian" is a term of abuse in the British Army).
