In the late part of our holidays we went to Jotunheim. Its the most popular area in Norway for Outdoor enthusiasts. The Besseggen ridge is well known by Per Gynt's furious reindeer-back ride in Henrik Ibsens drama; "Have you seen that Gjendin ridge? It cuts along with an edge like a scythe for miles and miles - -". About 35.000 hikers cross the Besseggen in the period mid-June - mid-September every year. The hike takes about seven hours, with its highest point at 1743 metres above sea level. Besseggen itself is a part of this walk. This hike between the crystal clear Bessvatnet lake at one side and the Gjende lake with its emerald-green glacial colour at the other side gives you an experience of life. The view on the National Park of Jotunheimen is nothing less than magnificent! It is a kind of National right of passage to do this walk From 984 mtr's above sea level to 1743 Meters which takes about 7 hours . You have to take a boat into Memurubu. Then it's all up to you and your condition This was taken on the evening before we walked the route the mountain in the background is the ridge we walked This was taken near the top as you can see the weather was perfect if not a little too warm This was taken near the top of the ridge itself you can make out the path we took in the distance. Lastly I'll leave you with a link to a photo page with lots of pictures of the route we took .I didn't take them they are just some I found on the net sit back and enjoy them http://home.online.no/~vi-kols/fottu...n/day_5_03.htm Kilt wise I wore my 8yard Bear PV with trad cut. Perfect for hillwalking and scrambling up rock (No restrictions on leg movement) the wind was no problem either I got loads of comments and folks took pictures of me including a guy who was going to send the picture to his kilt wearing son in Denmark......A great day..

Great pics. The scenery there is awesome!
Superb photos, Freelander. A kilted gent among spectacular mountain and lake scenery makes a grand subject.

Wonderful pics David. You've been on holiday for a bit now. Does Norway to the same thing that France does and have 4 weeks of holiday in the late summer? Perhaps a European thing? Just wondering.......
