Another kilted Ohioan
Hi folks, been reading this board now for about a year so I thought I'd join. Well, A little about myself: I live in nw Ohio, Lima, Ohio to be exact and have been kicking around the idea of wearing kilts so I finally bought one from SWK in Irish national back in April. At first, I really liked it and it is a great fit, only one problem, the green in it is too bright. So now I'm moving on to Ireland's National the one Possingk was wearing in one of his photos. I saw it and loved it. I attend all the celtic festivals in Ohio mostly Dayton, Columbus, Toledo, Cincinnatti, And a few in Indiana (Scottish festival In Wellington, OH too) All I need now is the nerve to wear it in public on a regular basis but I don't think the community I live in is ready for that. Well, thanks for listening. It's been a pleasure.

Nonsense. I live in a very conservative small town of primarily Dutch heritage of which they are very proud and I don't have any problems wearing the kilt every day here. Give it a go, you might be surprised.

Welcome to Xmarks! I am a native Ohioan that has lived out of state since 1981 (the last 19 years in Missouri). My home town in Ohio is Bellevue, about 15 miles south of Sandusky.
You will find a lot of knowledge about the history of the kilt on this board, and a lot of great people to give you support for wearing a kilt. I wear them publicly full-time. It's not as difficult as you might expect. Most people don't care what you wear as long as you look half-way decent. Many people will actually compliment you on your kilt. It just takes the courage to make those first few public appearances, and the more you wear it the more confidant you will get. Enjoy your new Irish National.

Welcome aboard. It's YOUR kilt, wear when you want to. The people here in North GA. probably weren't ready for a kilted minister, but I wore it regardless.

Welcome, Killian. Glad you decided to join in. And that's how you start wearing your kilt out & about--you just do it. But try not to let the compliments go to your head. ;)

One of my favorite sections of the board is the Newbie section and reading the introductions, so I can say WELCOME! Glad that you are here.

Welcome to my southern neighbor! You should try to make it to the oldest continuously running highland games in the states, Detroit! It's August 4-5..

Welcome fellow Buckeye!
I'm in Canton, though a very good friend of mine is in Lima.
I just got my first kilt at Christmas.

Ohio
My wife grewup in Ohio (from the age of 11) and we were stationed at Wright Patterson for five years. It's a wonderful place. My hats off to anyone who wears a kilt there. The one thing I remember about the way people dressed there was that it evidenced a lack of imagination.
