? Trews ?
Just wondering " Don't hate me" what's your thoughts on Trews for cocktail party "sorta dress up" with Black Argyll
jacket waistcoat long black tie? I've never seen this be for, always with formal P/C
outfit. OK let-er-rip.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. If done right, it should look great.
In fact, I was just on Kiltstore, and they have examples of different levels of dress with trews.

I agree wi' Dave.
A similar sort of dress can be found in this picture:

This gent is a former member of the old Cameronian regiment. Notice the Douglas trews with the green club jacket.

NOT Trews, but Orvis is still selling wool tartan trousers. I have a pair and they're fair value.

Not sure if a Scottish cut jacket would work with them due to the lower waist than trews.

I think that many of the kilted brethren look upon trews as a necessary evil
In my case, however, I used to make unmerciful fun of Merv Griffin for wearing his plaid pants (I seem to remember that they were Black watch) so I couldn't possibly be seen in them.

Black Stewart Trews
I found a pair at my favorite vintage shop in Reno, rad bettys, my size and in 60s vintage wool. I love them and do wear them on occasion. I will post a pic when I get home.

I wouldn't say that to the gentleman in the post above. The Lowland squaddies are very proud of their trews, and rightfully so.
Lately, when I'm in a room full of kilties, I want to be in trews. Heresy? Perhaps, but I can't help it.
Real men wear trews.

Aye E-Z Boys! I have three events in two days, with the same people. Didn't
want to wear my Kilt to all three. Too much beauty and all!

I think that sounds like a great idea. I'm planning on getting trews myself, and possibly some tartan trousers for daily wear.

I personally love trews (I'm a sucker for anyhting tartan), and I've seen them worn with argyll jackets before, so go for it!
And post photos!
