Praying in a Kilt
So, here is the story that I had mentioned in a previous thread. As I do Rev. War reenactments, 42nd RHR, Grenadier Company....our Grens are sometimes brigaded with other Highland Regiments such as the 71st and 84th. At the large reenactment of Battle of Saratoga in 2002 (225th anniv.), we were across a large open field from the Continentals. The British Army, about 600 strong (Conts. about 800 stood facing us), we were on a hill looking down at them. They had not yet advanced and as we stood there, our 42nd, the 71st, the 84th, about 70 Highlanders strong all in martial array, my Sjt., Black Dick MacGregor, stated, "Sjt. Major, I've got to p***." Well, in front of us were those Continentals, about 150 yards away. Behind and to the side of us was the public, about 1000 strong. Now when MacGregor has to go, HE HAS TO GO. He's an old soldier like me, not shy about anything, so I told him to kneel down and GO, "but don't get your kilt wet, lad!" MacGregor took about 10 paces in front of the Highland line, knelt, bowed his head and was very quiet. We watched him with smiles and then I shouted out..."Look at Sjt. MacGregor, prayin' before the battle!" No sacrilege intended, we had a good laugh, but ended even better with several more of our Highland lads asking, "Sjt. Major: Can I go out and pray also!" Oh, and Sjt. MacGregor's kilt was dry as autumn leaves!

At first I thought the title was a misprint about praying for a kilt. That story was far funnier than I expected!

And the general public none the wiser. Priceless.

I've done that myself. In fact, there's a picture of my before my wedding, when I actually was praying alone (the photographer caught me) and from behind it actually looks like I'm literally watering the flowers of the garden I was in

Having spent four years in Arabia I can tell you the unbifurcated males there take the same "praying" positon to do #1! I guess it just doesn't make sense to be standing in the desert to relieve yourself.

That's a great story, but this bit:
