District Tartans book
I recently ordered from Advance Book Exchange (ABE), which is a great place to purchase used and out of print books. I discovered last month at the Kansas City Tartan celebration that I was somewhat entitled to wear the District Tartan of Aberdeen, my grandmother’s district tartan was Angus, and my grandfather was Lennox. Not having any luck at my local library I decided to purchase the District Tartans book, which is recommended from the Scottish Tartans Authority (STA). The ISBN is 0856830852 by Gordon Teall of Teallach and Philip D. Smith Jr.
This book is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in district tartans.
What I really like about the book is it can be a tool for designing your own unique tartans by using the STA Tartan Design Studio; in fact, I created the Rothesay Hunting tartan by simply inputting their figures and colours into their software and was able to view a tartan that is listed in the book but not illustrated.
