    Stillwater Question

I just ordered my first kilt from SWK for an event next weekend.

Did you find the sizing of SWK to be accurate? I ordered according to my naval measurement (40") and the only option I had was for a 42". My wife is an excellent seamstress and can make any minor adjustments, but if it is waaay oversized I won't have time to get a replacement.

    Any thoughts from the rabble?

Let me tell you a few things about SWK.

    1) Jerry, owner of Stillwater Kilts, is able to alter space/time in the delivery of items. So, don't get too comfy in your chair as your kilt will arrive sooner than you think. We're still not sure how he does it

    2) Jerry is one of those rare folks who is both willing and able to resolve any problem that arises - just for future reference.

    3) I own two SWK standard kilts and the sizing from the website was perfect in both.

I think you'll be happy with your new kilt

For the difference between 40 and 42, you should be able to adjust the straps.

Your belt will hold it up, anyway. It shouldn't be too sloppy, with such a small size difference.

    Which Kilt did you Purchase?
If its a Standard the 42 should be just fine.
The straps on the side can adjust your size some.

Try it on but do not remove the basting untill your sure your ok with the fit.

    Oldun,

I have 5 of Jerry's kilts (3 heavyweights and 2 standards). I am a just about exactly a 36" waist and all 5 fit me well. However the waist measurement Jerry gives for his kilts is for the tightest setting. I could easily gain an inch of girth and still be able to wear those kilts by using the furthest strap holes.

I hate to say this but I think that the 42" waist is going to be far too big for you.

When your kilt arrives there will be a line of white stitches at the bottom of your kilt holding all the pleats together. This is called a basting stitch. Do not remove this stich until you have tried on your kilt. If it doesn't fit fold it up nicely and email Jerry to see what he can do about an exchange or refund. He needs that basting stitch to be in place in order to give and exchange or refund.

If the kilt fits well then go ahead and remove it (carefully)

    Hope this was of help.

    Cheers

My first two kilts from SWK are 44". I droped two more inches and the last one ordered was a 42". I still wear the 44"s, just use a belt to snug them up.

If you have the time, exchange it for a 40.

What Jamie said is most likely correct. I measured a 46 and ordered one and it was too big I simply ordered a second kilt in 44 and then returned the first one for a refund. This is what SWK recommends. I got my Kilts in 3-4 days using standard shipping. Also I love my SWK I will be ordering more!

I am barely a 34 and the 34 economy I ordered was just a tad too big at its smallest.

This is my experiance as well.

    I'm a 47... I ordered a 48.
A 46 would have fit better.
If your wife can relocate the straps you might be fine with a properly sized belt.
