Need help selecting the right tartan for a gift
Two young ladies at uni have been exceedingly kind to this young man for his birthday (a flask with a 16 line poem, that they composed, engraved on it. Engraving is bloody expensive just for a name, let alone a whole poem). I am looking to buy them high quality woolens. Cashmere is a little too high quality for my (£££) means. However, worsted wool isn't. One is a Londoner of East Asian extraction, and the other is a tall, blonde Swede. I decided to buy them tartan stoles. I am looking for a tartan with blues and/or reds that is subtle and won't overwhelm the dresses that will be suitable for evening wear. Example: Royal stewart is beautiful (if cliché), but it commands one's attention to the tartan immediately. The tartan doesn't need any special significance, just the colors. So far, I have considered Anderson and Hunting Stewart. I need more to decided from though.
