Don't know if anyone else has heard this one, but apparently
in York City (UK) it is still legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow........ except on Sundays!
Thought this antiquated info. nugget may amuse.......

In Ireland you can not hang a Spaniard with a wooden leg. You have to use a rope.

I was well aware of it having been warned by a clergyman in York Minster and it has been mentioned on here before!

I didn't know about the Sunday bit though - presumably because there is a law requiring archery practice on Sundays for the male population in England and Wales, that is still in existence but not enforced!

That raises the question if they've repealed laws that accuse Americans of being treasonous or rebels.

This would definitely be handy information to know before traveling abroad.

The version I heard does not specify how the Scot is to be killed but does require that he be armed within the walls of York-Towne---if he's not armed he gets off scot-free.
