So, awhile back my mother picked up a very nice purse from a thrift store for herself. She used it for awhile but then one of the straps broke and was beyond repair so she handed it to me and suggested I make a sporran from the black leather. I looked at it and tried to think of how I'd go about doing so. Eventually I gave up, the leather would be really soft and hard for me to work with to make a sporran since my leatherworking skills are fairly low.

However... today I had another idea for a different, new kilt/attire accessory...

VAMBRACES (or Bracers).

I looked at the purse again, put my forearm against the panels and BAM the amount of leather was just right! So I set to cutting out the two large square panels, then shaping them further. I ran out later in the afternoon to the craft store I used to work at to grab some leather for lacing them up and, although I had thought of just using black, I found some in red, and decided why not have some flare, eh?

I took a few pictures of the project and essentially it as a finished project. I finished one brace and the other is cut, just needs to be punched and laced.

So, here it is, my new accessory!
(sorry the picture quality is so poor, I took them with my phone)
