Sporran's provenance
I picked up a sporran today at a swap meet and would like some help in identifying it. At first blush it appears to my uninformed eye to be military issue, but I'm not sure about that.

On the back is stamped what appears to be a serial number - S5429, and the date 1962

and on the inside of the flap are the letters I S with 623 underneath, both in a circle about the size of a nickel with what looks like a star missing a few arms in the middle.

Hopefully the pictures turn out OK...any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Laurie
