What should I get first ?

As thanksgiving is in 4 weeks, and after that is the Christmas shopping seasn, I'm looking at getting my DH something to add to his kilt kit.

We picked up him some flashes 2 weeks ago.

I'm trying to decide between getting him a new or used black proper casual sporan. (He is currently using a tooled pouch that is green. It doesn't really go but it works.) He has a nice belt to wear with it.

Getting him kilt tee's almost seems like a 'cop out'.

He already has socks, and shoes. I'm open to suggestions. I don't want to spend more than $75. but I'm willing to trade my crafting skills on something as well.

    I'd go for the sporran.

BTW flashes are easy to make, no need to be buying them! There are posts here about making both garter style and tartan flashes.

A sporran sounds like a great idea.

If you're going to be at TRF, you might also look into a belt and buckle. There are several shops that sell them at various prices and qualities.

We were at TRF opening weekend. That is when he picked up his flashes. I have just been too busy to make them. He already has a nice belt. The pouch he is currently using is a tooled green one that has a dagger in it from Excaliber leather.

I'll look into getting him a nice sporan then. We are hoping to go back to TRF maybe I can see if I can't get him to pick out one there, or at least show me one's that he likes.

And he says I AM hard to buy for.

    Sporrans..

    As nicely made, good sized useful sporrans go, I don't think you can beat the stuff from Buzz Kidder, I have a couple and use them from the ren faire to dressy daywear;

I second the recommendation on Buzz Kidder day sporrans. They're solid. I own two of them and like them just fine, and they're within your budget.

My wife bought my first sporran for me. A good day wear that isn't too casual--with an embossed rose on the flap (insert Sub Rosa joke here). I still wear it as my 'go-to' sporran.

She took her time, thought about it and made a great choice--that REALLY showed me what she thought of me wearing kilts.

Sporran sounds like a good choice. The Celtic Croft has a nice selection of affordable sporrans: http://www.kilts-n-stuff.com/Highlan...s_economy.html.

How about this nice embossed one from USA Kilts for $80?

I also would recommend the Buzz Kidder sporrans. I have a Loch Ness model that has served me well for years and will continue to do so for years to come.

    Cheers
