What could I wear up top?
I am currently having a double box pleated kilt being made in the Auld Scotland tartan. Here is a sample that I borrowed from macmillan's son ( I hope you don't mind.)

And hose ( the green ones in the middle)

I am going to make flashes out of the tartan scraps and maybe get some dark red ones later on. My shoes will be brown wingtips.
Here is the question. I have always had shirts and sweaters to wear with my kilt. But I want something a little more refined. I am in love with the Tweed jacket and vest from USA kilts in the tweed poacher or Tweed Green Lovat/Fen
I don't have a ton of money so this will take about 6 to 8 months of saving. I am looking for another option around $100 to $200 to get me by on for the random events I will wear the new kilt to.Any suggestions? I have even thought about getting a sport coat from a discount store and getting it altered to a kilt jacket. What do you think about dark grey? Other suggestions are welcome.
