    Talking 5k Kilt Run!!

Look what I just found on the website for the North Texas Irish Festival:

First Annual North Texas Kilt Run

No, not this year, but probably in 2012, our 30th festival, we are thinking about a "5K Kilt Run". It's still in the planning stage (we work about 18 months ahead, so yes, we are already planning 2012) but assuming we can get a benevolent sponsor we will have a certified 5K run early Saturday morning. It will start and end at Big Pat (aka Big Tex) circle in Fair Park. Let us know if you would be interested in participating. Pick up at flyer at the SCMA booth while you are at this years festival.
That sounds like something I would do!!

We should organize an XMTS North Texas meetup for this! Sign up maybe as an XMTS team - that would be a lot of fun!

Yes, I will also be walking. Since I broke my ankle a couple of years ago it has never felt quite right when I run.

Why wait until next year... the Dash Down Greenville 5K is coming up in a couple weeks, immediately preceding the St Paddy's Parade.

Oops... so excited I forgot that search is my friend. What is protocol here? Do I delete this thread or leave it here with your post as a redirect to the main thread?

No worries I'm sure You can always ask a mod to close it, or turn it into tips for running/walking kilted? It'll bring more attention to the other thread hopefully.

Speaking of tips for running kilted...I ran a race yesterday (UTSA Diploma Dash) and a kilted runner showed up. Attire included a jacobite shirt, a sports kilt in a purple tartan, painted toe nails (not making fun considering he ran barefoot...much tougher than me!) and a huge antler kilt pin. Here is the tip--skip the kilt pin. All the rapid leg movement means the pin is going to hit your leg 80 or times a minute.

And, I'm still in for the North Texas kilted 5K!

My son won a 5K in mid-40s and rain on New Year's Day this year. He ran it in his MacGregor SportKilt. He did not wear the sporran during the race.
