    UK to US Delay

Matt mentioned that he was experiencing long waits to get things from the UK and I've been waiting for an item that I ordered on Feb. 23.

Is anybody else having these difficulties?

Back around the Christmas Holidays, I had two items from the UK take well over 30 days to arrive. During the same time, I had 4 or 5 other items from the UK arrive within just a few days.

I'm not sure if certain packages at random were being diverted for additional customs screening, or what, but it was frustrating!

Funny that this should come up...

I won a UK ebay auction for a lovat blue Argyll jacket and waistcoat on Feb. 20, which shipped on Monday, Feb. 21. There's still no sign of it and I'm beginning to get a bit worried. I've been in touch with the seller and he asked me to let him know if it hadn't arrived by the weekend.

I've since won another ebay auction and received that parcel within two weeks of the auction's end.

I'm not sure what to make of it, but am somewhat relieved to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this difficulty.

There is a warning about delays on packages from the UK to the US on a website, I found it by Googling.

It is due to heightened security stopping certain packages.

We send items to the States fairly regularly and have found that some items have travelled as normal and others been delayed by several weeks.

I suspect it is a bit of a lottery as to which parcels are sent as normal and which are delayed.

    shipping

I ordered a book from Abe books, and it shipped surface mail from Scotland. It took a full six weeks to arrive. It may be because of the shipping method, or because it was a book, but I thought for sure that I had been hoodwinked. On the other hand, I have had hose orders and tartan swatches arrive in 10 days.

Australia Post now has a A$9.00 surcharge on posting packages to the USA due to extra security checks on the USA side. As I must pay for the extra security checks I would imagine that they happen and that these would hold a package up somewhat.
