Thumbs up Out and about in Loganville GA

Yesterday risking the shotguns and whatnot I went for a stroll into the local Walmart to test the waters. Since I was there I went into the movie section to browse the titles, low and behold one of the attendants/associates comes over and after the salutations he says, "we have Braveheart you know..." I laughed heartily and simply stated that I already have it. He grinned and walked off after a little instruction on how to get his attention if I needed it. Walking around the store a little more I noticed a hell of a lot of double takes. The girls smiled and the guys were more or less unphased. Im a stocky guy so I appologise for maybe turning some people off.

Before I went back home I stoped at one of my favorite food places. And while I was waiting for my order I started conversation with a man there who was waiting for his food. I casualy brought attention to the kilt by stating how wonderful it is to wear an Amerikilt on a day such as today, the heat index was 105ish, and he asked if it was wool. I laughed and said noway wool is far too hot for THIS climate. He went on to say that he had a wool kilt at home, being of Irish heritage, and he wondered where I had gotten mine. Needless to say I gave him the urls of Utilikilts and Amerikilts and we parted, he seemed very very interested in getting a cotton kilt so I thought I would just tell yall, even in the SOUTH with the shotguns all around it is safe to wear a manskirt ;-)

Glad to hear it went well! I live here in Gettysburg now, but I grew up in an area of PA that is lovingly referred to as "Pennsyltucky," (NO OFFENSE TO KENTUCKIANS!!) which is about as backwoods and old-fashioned as PA gets. I had only the best reception to my kilt-wearing there, however.

Wow. Great post. Can we get this man a medal for courage, or at least a new kilt pin?

I hate to say it, but you still live in Pennsyltucky, its one of only three regions in Pa (the other two being Philly and Pittsburgh).

Pennsyltucky? Heck, any southern boy'll tell ya thet's anythang nawrth'o Tennessee and west'o Virginny an hit goes all the way to the narwth pole. Dannel Boone rite much proved it! Good kilt wearing territory though I reckon.
