When a post is deleted, it may be because it was deemed offensive, forbidden subject matter, a personal attack, off topic etc. The first three are problematic and should be cut. However the deletion of posts for being marginally off-topic is a bit more subjective.
I'm going to suggest that the creation of a "Penalty Box" or holding area might be helpfull. Rather than being deleted outright, a borderline post could be moved to the holding area with a redirection and a brief explanation as to why. The offender would then know why the post pulled but it would still be available to those interested.
The summary deletion of posts with no explanation whatsoever won't do anything to ameliorate matters.
Thoughts??
