Gold Brothers
Most of the cheap stuff is just that - cheap.
This is the Gold Brothers storefront in Edinburgh. Tourist stuff, mostly.
The stuff that was from other manufacturers (scarves from Lochcarron, etc) was ok, but you could get it anywhere for the same or better prices, without the heinous shipping charges.
My $0.02, YMMV.

Like our frieds at Kilt Store, the kilts come from various sources. My tank, orderded from them, came from a very good kiltmaker. It was received when promised, and as promised. I can honestly say that it is the only kilt or kilt related item that I orderded that was exactly as expected. Well, not really, but they don't have anything to do with FedEx in Memphis. They made my arglye jacket as well and at a most reasonable price.
Call if you are interested in something. They are very good at customer service. They do a lot of lower end stuff, but if the product has demand, who are we to be criticle?
I'll order from them again.

Their complaints on E-bay seem to only be on their lower end items. I'm specifically looking at their 5 yard 16 oz Strome kilt.
David, what was yours?

Many is the time I have passed by this establishment and, like Daz, I have looked into their shop on The Royal Mile just the once - that was enough! As he says, it was full of tourist-trap rubbish. These shops really should not be allowed on The Royal Mile. They have another shop, trading under another name, just across the street which is even worse (if that is possible!).
Having said that, some of the items shown on their website seem to be of reasonable quality, but I would not take the risk of ordering from them when, as has been said, the same or similar items can be found elsewhere from reliable retailers.
