    My life is ruined

In the Bible, Jesus at a wedding feast saved the best wine until last.
I'm beginning to see the wisdom in that as i have recently been enjoying Laphroaig whisky.

After tasting this amazing dram it's very hard to go back to cheaper blends.

While I am still hard pressed to decide whether it's better than Ardbeg (I'll compare again when the Ardbeg I've ordered comes), it really is amazing stuff.

Kilts and whisky go togever likke peahces and creem, so as Isit here are testout thiiiiis nce wisky I can say thay Lafroig have duna guud jobb.

    Only kidding

Once, on a slow afternoon, I was sitting in a bar on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago and the owner, in a burst of generosity, ordered the barkeep to pour everyone a shot of his (the owner's) favorite: Anniversario Rum.

So the lot of us...probably four guys at the bar, the bartender and the owner (who said that he was diabetic and probably shouldn't be doing this...but...) threw those shots down and toasted to the health of the bar owner.

The sensation was like having a very warm, gentle and friendly angel pass briefly through your body and fade away in the distance leaving a very pleasant glow behind. I have kept an eye open for more of the same squeezins in various bars and liquor stores and have drawn a blank (and some vacant looks) everywhere so far.

So I know where you're coming from on this...it's good toget spoiled.

    best

ah, but that's part of your/our belief anyway, that life is ruined and everything good we have is better than it should be, isn't it?

I had that same warm feeling in me from a drink thirty-five years ago, felt the lust, and the warning, and never touched alcohol again. I am so weak.

So, now I tell people that I'm one of the dry Scots, the dour miserable ones. People seem to respect that.

    Oh! Graham,
what will I do with you. I feel partly resposible for this . Should I have told you in such graphic terms how much I love Ardbeg "Very Young" ?

It's not a case of which is better Laphroaig or Ardbeg they compliment each other. "I'm saving for a Laphroaig 1/4 cask for Christmas. Hic!

Archangle: I'd never describe you as DRY far from it I enjoy many of your postings

Look at this way Graham, good things come to those that wait. Of course the good stuff is well worth the wait and ever more appreciated once you have tried the others.

You know, I've yet to develop this reverence for single malt. I'm not sure why, it's the sort of thing I ought to enjoy.

Now, good, stout ale, that's different!!!

My fiance's parents called from Scotland last week and asked if there was anything we wanted. Our reply was a few bottles of Arbeg. The next phone call said that they had some for us. I cannot wait.

Graham. You already tasted Talisker? Another of my favourites. The only single malt from the Isle of Skye! I try to recommend it and Laph to everyone because they are both equally astounding

Oh, in a matter of fact... I need to book ticket for the christmas cruise to get both a bottle for tax free
