Inexpensive Kilts.
I thought I'd share a source for inexpensive kilts that I've found: Estate Sales. I've been buying and selling used books for over a decade. One of the places I go is estate sales. I've bought several kilts at them lately. So far I've found kilts made by Geoffrey Tailor, Hector Russell and others. With a little tailoring I've got a very nice kilt at an indecent price. Swallow your coffee before reading further...the most I've paid so far has been 60$ U.S. Now you know why my kilt stash is growing so fast.

Grrr...I'm jealous!!
No estate sales around here.
Do put me on your list for anything in the 41 - 44" waist 21-23" length...happy pay fair dollar to the "picker." That the right word??, that's what they call the folks who find the antiques ;-)

Or a 33"-34" waist/27" overall length, 30"-32"/24" or 33"-34"/23"-24" ... no, those aren't all my measurements - I'm a muppet, not Gumby.:-P
The last two sets are my brothers. They might be open to good, used kilts at a good price.
If you're open to the idea ...
... have to see if my uncle still does estate sales ...

Heres another tip for kilt hunting. Almost everywhere you go,the clothing is sorted into mens and womens. Most of the kilts I've seen were in with the womens clothing. Good luck.

In the Summer we have a lot of Yard sales but I have yet to see kilts. A lot of 100% wool sweaters for $5 or less.

Thats something I've given serious thought to. Up till now I've only bought the ones that were close to my size and thus easily tailored.

I love estate sales. My old fire captain clued me in one the idea. When we were in between drills and calls at the fire house we'd all get on the engine and hit the estate sales on the weekend. Officially we were doing a house survey to get better acquainted with the interiors of homes in our area, but we were really shopping.
I've picked up an old victrola, lots of antique manual typewriters, and some amazing silver objects at estate sales. My last great find was a pair of solid silver table lighters for $5 each! If they'd been cleaned up and sold at auction, because of the maker and the condition they would have sold for at least $300 according to the antique guides.
Sadly, no kilts yet at any of the sales.

Y'know, I haven't been to that many, but do you find kilts regularly?
That would be an unusual, but happy, find!
Do tell!
