a kilting in the desert
As a fairly new member, I thought I'd post a photo of me in one of my kilts, if for no other reason, to help those out there with dartboards... ;) I soon realized that even tho' I've been wearing kilts for 2 1/2 yrs, I don't have many photos of me wearin' 'em. I'll have to work on correcting that oversight. Fortuitously, I had some photos of the family taken last Dec 11th (at the Irish Cultural Center here in Phoenix) so we could send them out with our Christmas letter. Besides my olive UK, notice the green plants & flowers - just wanted to show that our antipodal members aren't the only ones enjoying lovely weather this time of year...
First pic is of my wife & I (in a couple weeks we celebrate our 29th anniversary - & my 50th birthday on the same day)
Second pic is my wife & I embarrassing our 23 yr old son with a group hug
Third pic is what it is...
Hope this Shutterfly link works for ya...

Great photos! Your moniker certainly fits, and the son seems a "chip off the old block". Great fun embarassing young adult children ain't it?

Great pics. You sure don't look like you are going to be 50. Love that UK olive. It looks like the original, and I just ordered one yesterday. I'm 59, and my wife and I celebrated are 31st anniversary yesterday. Great when you get to embarass one of the older kids. I have a son who is 30, and told some of his friends that he still believed in the Easter Bunny.

Thanks, Streetcar. As for my red hair, you might say I've always been very attached to it!
I'm guessing your question concerns the reaction you'd get to wearing a kilt in Tucson. I haven't been to the Old Pueblo for quite a few years & never while wearing a kilt, but Tucson tends to be a more liberal, laid-back town than Phoenix, so your kilt shouldn't be any problem, especially if you're around the UofA area. I have noticed, though, that a lot of Latinos have a hard time accepting what to them is a guy in a skirt. I surmise that this reaction has its roots in the machismo attitude still very prevalent in the Hispanic culture. As long as you don't wear a kilt in the barrio, everything should be cool.
