I was researching what I would need to pack for my upcoming cruise on Norwegian to Bermuda and I found this in the attire section:

Bermuda shorts with knee high socks, or Scottish kilts with knee highs will also be allowed in all dining rooms in Bermuda as these are considered formal dress in Bermuda.

Their requirements for the evening meals say things like no shorts, bare feet, etc., but I thought it was interesting they would specifically mention kilts.

I'll have to admit, I also found the following a bit humorous:

Blue Jeans will be allowed in all dining rooms on all Houston departures, due to the Texas culture.

...or better yet, they have the jacket with all the salad on the sleeves...you can outdress the captain!

Those prices are incredible! I already have my formal jacket ordered though. But I may have to think about a white dinner jacket.

Since there will be some people running around in uniform (at least the crew), I do plan to pin on my miniature medals. (Don't worry, I did earn them while I was in the Army)

Also check with the cruise line about a veteran discount. We used carnival and they offered a discount to vets which for our package added up to about $90 / person. But you had to knw to ask about it. It's worth a shot.

Careful there. I was raised in TEXAS and I never wore burmuda shorts and cowboy boots like the Aggies do at football games (Go cougars)

I've got my travel documents now, so I'm almost ready to go (still have to pack my clothes). I've got my evening wear all figured out and now I have to throw in something for daywear.

I'm leaving Sunday from Philadelphia for a week. I need this break. I haven't been on a trip since February of last year. Well there was the trip with family to Florida for Christmas, but that doesn't count, it was with family.:rolleyes:

I'll think of you when I'm sippin' pina coladas by the pool. Try not to post TOO much while I'm gone.

while in Bermuda be sure to tell my folks I said hi!!! Thats where i am originally from!!!

And be sure to let me know how the kilt goes over while there - although NCL mentions it in thier literature, i dont recall EVER seeing one worn on anyone other than a bagpiper when i was a kid - then again if it was a solid color it woudl have blended it with the Bermuda shorts and been less noticable...

You might want to stop into the English Sports Shop which is right on Front Street (which is where your ship will dock while in Hamilton - they also have branches in Somerset & St Georges - the other possible ports of call) . There you will find all sorts of tartan items and regalia - you can also grab up a bunch of Bermuda Knee High socks for use with your kilts - they come in nice thick wools or thinner cottons - primarily in navy, black & grey, but lighter shades are also available - they are NOT textured like true kilt hose (and not smooth like stockings either for that matter!!!) but are much less expensive & will do in a pinch...Take a look here for visual
