Kilt Hose from Penny's of Thunder Bay

I got my first set of hose from Penny's of Thunder Bay today. I have but two pairs of hose, so I am quite limited as to my experience.

The first set to come are off-white. They are thicker and longer than I thought they would be, and I think they are intended to be folded three times at the top. They will no doubt be warmer than what I have now, which is a definite plus. They do not stretch as well as I hoped, and I had to yank them on. I do have bigger calves from bike riding, and I am certain they will stretch out with wear. They read that they are machine washable, so daringly I tried, and they came out in the same condition. They are less than 20% wool.

The cost was good and delivery as expected. I have a second pair (black)that will come in the next few weeks since they were backordered.

Kilt hose are really long and meant to be folded double at the top in a really wide cuff (maybe 4" deep). Folding double means three thicknesses of sock at the top. The heavy cuff balances the kilt nicely.

Since I live, in my estimation, the coldest place in the entire known universe, I am really happy with the hose. I guess the only thing that doesn't fit just right is the foot area, which is too long...maybe they were expecting a few laundry foul ups? The size read 10-11. I am a 10 1/2. I guess I do not know, but are Canadian foot measurements different than US?

Nah, I'm from the coldest place in the known universe, Duluth, Minnesota. It's built on a rock face on a hill and the storms hit it with a vengence, I haven't lived there for quite a few years but I remember the water pipes feezing and breaking in the middle of the night. Our usual wake up call was usually the big ice breakers plowing a path through the ice on Lake Superior for the ore boats that was louder than an alarm clock!
Of course if the truth were known I'd have to say that the absolute coldest winter I ever experienced was one summer night in my ex-wife's bed. In California no less.

Hahahaha!!! I had one of the cold nights last night. Even the 3 drams before bed didn't keep me warm. Maybe I better order some of those kilt hose from Penny's for warmth.

I own a few pairs, I have big calves so I put them on when they are a little damp and after they dry they are perfect.
