Sorry, I broke the rules....
Sorry, I broke the rules. I wore brown shoes with a black sporran. I think I might have gotten away with it though. The outfit I wore was a SWK Nightstalker, with a black robroy sporran. I wore a white shirt, with a brown herringbone vest, grey hose with brown flashes, and brown shoes. I reasoned that because the black sporran blended with the black and grey tartan, and that because I accessoriesed with the brown vest and brown flashed that the color difference wouldn't be noticed. I don't think it was, but maybe nobody around me knew better. Anyway, I think I looked good. I'll try to post a photo later.

Central, we have a 10-59 here, non-matching shoes and sporran. Please send a fashion officer and 1 pair of black shoes!
Seriously, that does not sound too bad. What color belt were you wearing? I would think a brown belt would tie in the vest and shoes nicely, but black would probably work as well.

I didn't wear a belt. The vest would have hidden it.

Forget the black sporran, I'm trying to get brown shoes with a black kilt.

www.Mensfashon.com says: Always match your belt with your shoes. Stay with traditional colors such a black, dark brown or a rich tan. Other colors will be difficult to match, and generally speaking, should be avoided.
I cant believe they didnt mention anything about the Sporran.

George Gobel Lives!!??
I still can't figure out why ALL kilts seem to come with black leather straps. Even the green ones. I just haul away and wear a brown belt over the top two, brown sporran, brown shoes and let the lower black strap be black.

Who really cares? did you feel like you did something wrong? Did you get thrown into the fashion lock-up? I highly doubt it.
As long as you had a good time, the don't even worry about it.
besides, if someone (other than those of us here who may know you) gives you are hard time about mis-matched leathers, do you really want to deal with them? Obviously they missed the entire fact that you are one of the few kilted amoung a vast sea of the trousered masses...
