Knowing what we all know now ...
Knowing what we all know now about Cilts/Kilts, comfort/warmth etc, if you could turn the clock back, how many of us would have been prepared to wear them to school and/or as an everyday casual garment back then. To be honest I'm not sure if I would have had the courage/nerve to do so, but then I again theres something in me that says maybe I might have done so. I certainly admire the guys on X Marks who confidentally wear their Cilts/Kilts to school and out about in their general everyday activities.

Derek, that is a very thought provoking post. I started wearing kilts at age 58. I not sure that I could have done so at age 18, 28, or even 38. Why? Probably because of peer pressure, and caring a great deal about what people thought of me, and how that might affect my career.
I think as we age, what people may think of us becomes less important. We become more confident in who we are, and where we are going. So, to the younger members of XMarks I have to say, well done. Your self-confidence and maturity may very well exceed your years.

I so would have done it in uni, if not high school. I'm glad I've chosen to do it now, in the summertime of my life.

I´m quite sure I wouldn´t have worn kilt at school, I was a very insecure person then! I wouldn´t have dared to draw attention to me, being an outsider and having jewish greatgrandparents (yes, that was a problem in my class!)
It took me 35 years, getting married to a wonderful woman against my parents wishes, being baptised strictly without their approval and a severe depression for me to become a kiltwearing man!
It was worth it, though!

Had I had the cash back in high school, I'd have definitely worn a kilt to school and as much as possible. It would've made my mother happier than seeing me in the ol' "studs-n-leather" punk rock attire, that's for sure!

I probably would not have worn a Kilt to high school. Although going against the system I was a Shrub ( pre-grundge ) in a school full of prepies and Rugby players. I never would have attempted a Kilt, although I caried a large chip on my shoulder, I'm sure a hospital stay would have soon fallowed.

When I was in high school, being independent was cool as long as you followed all the other people's ideas about independence. Much like today, kids are expressing their individuality but dressing and acting just like everyone else. I love the fact that they all think they are charting new ground ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Having said that, I would have worn a kilt to my Highschool graduation for sure!!!!
