    Boy's kilt - wherefrom?

My son is making his old man proud!

Looking through some of the pictures posted on X Marks, my 6 year old son proclaims he wants a kilt too!

He hates dressing in decent clothes for those special occasions, but announced that if he could have a kilt, he would wear it for special occasions - as well as when dad wears his.

I don't feel ready to splash out for a special order Murphy tartan before he has grown a bit more, and as he said he could have any tartan, I will try to find something off the peg (especially as he wants one for our constitution day May 17th...)

Do any of you have any recommendations for places to order - or places to stay away from?

Thanks in advance from a proud dad

Like father, like son! That is great! He doesn't want to dress up, but will wear a kilt to dress up. He is learning fast.

I hope you can post pictures once this happens. And like someone else said on here, it would be great if kids kilts could be turned in and traded for a small fee for other kilts.

Maybe some of the companies can start that.

Hey for what it's worth...once my boys got their rental kilts for my sis-in-law's wedding last September, I haven't been able to get them out.

Grandad bought us all kilts and accessories for Christmas, and with few exceptions, they wear them to Church every Sunday now.

Even I can't wear them that often (I'm in a cassock for Sundays and for regular weekdays).

Congrats. It looks like your boy will do you proud, too.

As far as I know, for a miniature kilt, you're going to have to look at more upscale stores...you might try asking USAK if they'll do a small version for your wee lad.

Have you checked out the ones KiltStore has? They also have a discount for X-Markers.

If it were me, I would follow Southern Breeze's advice. But don't forget eBay. It's crawling with (presumably Pakistani) boys' kilts.

    Decision time...

Thanks for all in-put. We have discussed the matter at home, and have opted for a reasonable ebay kilt - as we don't know wether the wee lad will change his mind about wearing a kilt when the day of reckoning comes...

RockyR: thanks, I'll get back to you

I'll let you know when kilt arrives and pictures are taken...

    PS
The lad has his eyes on a Royal Stewart...
