You probably already know that most contemporary kilts have a lot of pockets so you don't really need a sporran....but if you want one don't think it looks bad.
This isn't a fair picture, I'd just jury rigged a doeskin Shoshone pouch onto my belt with my basil Utilikilt Survival. Not even centered. But it does show (I think) that sporrans and sporran-like things look fine with solid color kilts if you want.

Here's a picture of my brown Freelander sporran worn with my brown leather Utilikilt. Course it was at the Ren Faire...still don't think it looks that bad.

Of course them Freelanders look good with any kilt.
Point is, go for it...mix match experiment have fun...
