Best modern kilt for use with sporran

Now that my second kilt is on order with scottishkilts.net (hunting stewart 5 yd PV) I'd like to think about a modern kilt. Because of the single color I think they will be a lot easier to match. However, I'd also like to wear a sporran with my kilt as they've really grown on me. However I suspect that the snaps found on the front of UKs, AKs, FKs etc. might make a sporran look a little funny. I've heard some comments to that effect my some members on this board.

So my question for the knowldgeable folks on this forum is what kind of modern kilt they'd suggest for use with a sporran. Perhaps some has some pics they'd liike to point me towards. Ideally I'd like something in cotton/poly mixture and less <$150 US.

You probably already know that most contemporary kilts have a lot of pockets so you don't really need a sporran....but if you want one don't think it looks bad.

This isn't a fair picture, I'd just jury rigged a doeskin Shoshone pouch onto my belt with my basil Utilikilt Survival. Not even centered. But it does show (I think) that sporrans and sporran-like things look fine with solid color kilts if you want.






Here's a picture of my brown Freelander sporran worn with my brown leather Utilikilt. Course it was at the Ren Faire...still don't think it looks that bad.



Of course them Freelanders look good with any kilt.

Point is, go for it...mix match experiment have fun...

If you don't go with MacHummell, go with Freedom kilts or Rkilts. Steve's kilts are the most like a traditional kilt, and Robert makes some pretty cool looking stuff.

As I'm reading your post I realise I am sitting here wearing a sporran with a non-traditional kilt. It's a solid black polyester goth kilt by Mercy Clothing which I would rate as non-traditional as its non-wool, non-tartan, has fewer pleats and is slightly longer than my traditional kilts. I always team it with a plain black leather sporran partly because it has no pockets and partly for appearance.

well if you are between 30-38 waist, may i sudgest one of the budget Tartan kits we have, or even one of our Corduroy or Denim Kilts, all well within your budget.
