Question 'ghillie' sandals en lieu of boots for casual?

I broke down and wore my Chaco sandals to the Potomac Celtic Festival instead of my normal black or brown steeltoe boots. I've never cared for the look of sandals with a kilt, but it was just too friggin' hot for boots that day. Then yesterday while shopping R.E.I. (outdoors / sports supply retail), I caught sight of this and wanted to get opinions from the gang.

The have them in leather as well.

What say you guys to the idea?

I own a pair myself. They're quite comfortable.

Well, the link doesn't work up there anymore, but this is an interesting old thread. I have a black and a brown pare of sandals that have straps around the ankles that I wear with my BZK. I also have a pare of black leather slides, that I have worn with hose. Those remind me a little of ghillies but without a back. It is too hot out here for hose in the summer...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I think that the sandals in question were by Keen, like the H2 models. These have elastic lacing up the top of the foot, securing several straps which perhaps resemble the uppers of a ghillie brogue.

Ok, that's interesting. I've seen several sandals lately that are leather and have triangular pieces cut out of the sides to be a little like if there were several bands of leather going across the foot. They don't really look like ghillies but they kind of have a hint of the idea.

I don't think I'm talking about exactly the same sandals, but I looked at my collection of sandals that I wear with kilts, and I think they're ok. There's pictures of them in the gallery and in my albums, so I'm removing the pictures that I posted here.
