    The addiction takes hold.

Well, I just placed my second kilt-related order after days of indecision. I ordered the Rob Roy sporran and a pair of oatmeal colour kilt hose from USAKilts. Anyone have hose from USAK? If so, do they stay up well without flashes/garters? I figure I can make some if I need to.

I was seriously torn between the Rob Roy sporran and the SWK Nightstalker nylon sporran. The nylon seems great in most respects, but I wanted a leather sporran (since it's my first) to work with either casual or semi-formal dress; seems a bit more versatile.

    I need more kilts!

Oh yeah. You've been bitten for sure.

I don't have any of the hose from USAK. I wanted to order some with my order on Friday. But, I was already pushing it with the wife... So, I figured I'd consider myself lucky with the kilt and tartan flashes. But, as far as the hose, I wouldn't worry about them not staying up. They've got elastic in the blend, so you'll be ok without garters I'm certain.

I've been eyeing a brown Rob Roy leather sporran over at SWK. They're very sharp. I have one of the Nightstalker nylon sporrans you mentioned. I love it. True, you wouldn't want to wear it semi/formal. But, as far as an actual practical daily sporran, you couldn't ask for more. I'm sure you'll be very happy with the Rob Roy. THey look awful roomy.

Also, one of our moderators "Freelander Sporrano" makes some amazing leather sporrans as well.

Here's how I explain the flash to people... if you're going to be walking around a lot, then you'll probably need flash to keep the hose up. If you're sitting more than standing, then it's your call if you NEED them.

I may get the nylon sporran in the future (I have a feeling I will) but I like the look of the Rob Roy a lot.

Rocky, thanks for the tip. I'll see how it goes. I'll get flashes eventually either way. At first, I didn't know how I felt about flashes, but after seeing a lot of pictures, I think they add quite a bit to the overall look. But having only an olive AmeriKilt, red, navy or green won't look very good. To be sure, those colours will be added to my wardrobe eventually, but for now I'd like something pretty neutral (like black, unless I can find some OD green or similar shade fabric to make the flashes myself).

To Southern Breeze: Now that is my kind of twelve step program. I've been amazed at the amount of time I have spent online lately searching out kilt-related websites the last couple of weeks. I've even had a few dreams about getting kilts and accessories . . . wow, I'm an addict for sure . . . and I love it

    I'd arrange it differently:
    1. Kilt
    2. Sporran
    3. Hose
    4. Pin
    5. Sgian
    6. Flashes
    7. Shoes
    8. Jacket
    9. Plaid
    10. X-marks
    11. Make your own
    12. Repeat

...that's just how I did it...
