    Ready for 'Pride' on Saturday

A few weeks ago, Ron posted a photo of himself wearing a rainbow-coloured feather boa that he'd 'acquired' at 'Pride in the Pines' at Flagstaff. Upon seeing it, I knew I just had to have one to wear with my Rainbow kilt at our 'Brighton Pride' and said as much. Next thing KCW offered to send me one as a birthday gift - and it arrived a few days ago! I have already thanked Rob privately, but I do so again publicly: Thank you, Rob. Although Brighton Pride is not until the weekend, the boa has already elicited hysterical tears of laughter and joy from one of my female neighbours, but I am now getting cold feet at the thought of wearing the 'Rainbow Combination' in front of maybe 10,000 people.

What do you all think? I have to travel part of the journey on a London - Brighton train with no-where to change at the event. Should I go for it, or should I behave my age? [PS: Actually, I don't have to listen to you!!

    Dear Hamish,

Are you getting cold feet about the boa, the kilt or both?
You could always put the boa in a backpack it needed.

I wouldn't worry to much about making a "statement" with your clothing.
    Just be yourself.

Why would you start acting you age now, and how much fun would that really be anyway?

It looks great Ham! And I also say go for it. As has been mentioned, if you want to, you can carry the boa in a bag and unveil it when you get to Brighton.

That is one super kilt Hamish. It will look superb on the Brighton Pride parade. I don't know about you but I don't think I'd have the confidence to wear it on the train, though I suppose the bright colours are to the back and are less conspicuous when sitting and you could put the Boa in a carrier bag for travelling. A couple of years ago I went on a train tour which had originated in the south of England and which I joined at Carlisle, visiting Aviemore and Edinburgh. Our visit to Edinburgh co-incided with the Edinburgh Pride parade which was impressive to watch, with plenty of men in kilts taking part, and seemed to generate a lot of goodwill among the watching crowds. Yet after re-joining the train I heard a lot of ill informed gaybasher comments about the event from some of the buffet car lager louts and was indeed quite glad I had not chosen to wear my kilt on that trip.
